best buy (or any other technician place) is gonan be expensive.. up around $60 bucks not including if they have to buy any new parts. If your job has an IT department, someone down there probably woudn't mind looking at it for you.
It sounds like bad memory, or bad harddrive. You might try running check disk, as it can attempt to repair harddrive problems. Link on how to do that below

Try this. Go to Control panel, select Add/remove programs. Find internet explorer. Select it to remove, a window will come up asking if you want to either, delete it, repair it or something else. Select repair. It will go thru the routine and then ask you to restart your computer. Now, if this doesn't work after you try it again, you two other choices. If you have system restore/ or Go back, you can go back to a date when this didn't happen and restore your system. The only bad thing is that anything you added between the time you went back to and the date you did it will disappear, so try this one instead before you do that. Do a Google search for Internet Explorer 6.0. When you find the webpage that has the newest version, download it and install it again. If that don't work, then use the system restore. Make sure you backup any files or programs that you think might disappear before you do this. OK, I see someone else realized it is a virus. Go to Trendmicro.com and use their online scan tool. It will remove the virus if McAfee and Norton's won't. Excellent online tool. It will take about an hour to run, and you can't use your internet connection while it runs. Also, you may have to turn your firewall off.

In the books and instructions etc. that came with the computer ( if you bought it new) you will find the instructions as to how to re-format and re-install your Operating system. This is also called re-imaging the PC. All the programs that came installed on the Laptop, the Hardware Drivers etc will be in this image.
Normally this ' image ' will be saved on a partition on the Hard Disk Drive of your Laptop, by the manufacturer. This is the System Restore Image. It allows to restore your system to its original status.
To do this you will not need the Windows CD and all that. You will not need to take the Laptop to Bestbuy or have Geek Squad come to you etc.
The idea is to figure out how to do this or what and where the exact steps to do this are, within the Instructions.
Once this ' image ' is invoked all you have to do is to follow the steps displayed onscreen.
Good Luck.

Props to Acklan the only one to get it right, some of the other answers were WAY off the mark.
As Acklan pointed out this taskdir.dll is associated with the Blodhound.W32.Ep trojan.
To the two users that say it sounds like a memory or hard drive issue, where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Sounds like a hard drive problem or memory problem. If you are not familiar with this you will have to take it to a technician.
