The registry on the computer is a file that holds settings in the form of text for the operating system & all of the programs that are on your computer. If the registry is edited in the wrong way it can crash your whole operating system.

It is a place where the computer and programs store stuff that it needs to refer to from run to run. Sometimes when you remove programs the stuff remains.
