whenever I have leftover containers from something I bought...i.e. ice cream,. cottage cheese, etc. I am actually thinking of washing them and using them to store stuff.
My parents had drawers full of those things and it annoyed the heck out of me.

So far I have managed to fight that urge....lol

I'm not exactly sure, but I remember when I was young thinking my mother was so old fashioned and didn't really have a clue what things were like today. Now I'm the mother and now and then I hear something come out of my mouth and I think, "Whoa, I sounded just like Mom!".

I never thought I would be so close-minded like my dad,who was a racist. my mom was gullible and let ppl walk all over her. I am not like that, instead,I am quite outspoken, often considered rude. I am a homebody like my dad, and he was antisocial too. The older I get,the more like him I am becoming and it scares me. I am alot like my mom, though , in the way i am shrewd,money-wise,and frugal. Hubby calls me cheapskate, but I tell him, "someone has to be, since you're not!" He usually shuts up after that.! I am also a good judge of character, which neither one of them was.

I find myself laughing like my dad. You know, I'll be joking around with people and I'll laugh and I'll hear my my dad's laughter coming out of my mouth.

It's weird, he's been dead almost 40 years! Yet that piece of him (and who knows how many of my ancestors) lives on. Even though my dad and I weren't that close, I like the idea of being part of a continuum.

Resilient, a cautious realism - like both. A certain stubborn defensiveness they share. I've become more like my parents than my parents ever were...they tricked me!
