NY. Four seasons, tons to do, the people aren't phony like in LA, and there are so many states close by with great things (nj, ri, pa, etc). The whole atmosphere on the east coast is better than in LA - I've lived both places and currently live in CA, and can't wait to get outta this state!

I would say New York. I have been to both. New Yrok is better because the people are real. They say what they think and aren't afraid. People in LA pretend and don't say what they think. I lived in LA for 25 plus years.
Only thing about New York is that it is expensive to live there. But its such a cool place. I loved it.

I'm from Cali and been to L.A many times. There are many things to see and do. However, I went to New York for to celebrate the year 2006 and was overwhelmed by all the things that need to be seen. Mainly everything was relative close. I LOVED IT. NYC is the best. Its is different from the West Coast. People are grouchy in NYC but I can deal with that once a year. :)

NY because in NY they say it to your face. In LA, they say it behind your back.

I've never been to LA, but I prefer NY due to the urban nature of the city. LA has no urban core to speak of.
