Hmmmm...I always thought it was the opposite. I notice when I wash my jeans and dry them, they fit tighter, later becoming looser as I wear them. I think it's the fabric. Cotton is a funny, unforgiving fabric if you treat it wrong; it will shrink on ya in a minute...
Depending on whether they cotton is mixed with that lycra stuff the put in jeans nowadays...I can't really say.

I had the same problem once. They just stretch through out the day. You might want to try a different style or cut. I used to wear levi novou 505 they did the same thing. I just got a different kind.

i don't know if anything can prevent it, but i have the same problem, when i try on a pair of pants in a store they are perfect, then when i wash and dry them they get real tight, but then later on they fit well, i suggest that you wear a belt even if they fit well, and when they start to loosen they won't fall down

completely normal, happens with EVERY pair of jeans. you know how sometimes clothes seem smaller when they get out of the dryer? the heat shrinks clothes, so when they're fresh out of the dryer, they're going to fit well. when you walk, it stretches out each individual thread which won't contract again until it's being exposed to the heat of the dryer. so after all that walking and sitting and moving our legs and hips in weird ways, it's going to be stretching to fit all those movements...you know?

Jeans stretch when you wear them! If they aren't dirty, throw them back into the dryer and they will fit as good as new again.

what is with that?
you arent the only one that this happens to, maybe its water weight and as the day goes on, you lose an 1/2 or 1 inch off your waist because of sweat.
that sounds crazy doesnt it

I don't know of any way to prevent it. I think it just happens over time, the fabric starts to pull apart. Not at the seams, just overall.

the same exact thing happens to me, and everyone i know. it just that when you move your legs around you stretch the material out. there's no way to prevent it, just dry them again (you don't have to wash them).

because you shrunk the material in the pants and every time you wear them they will stretch to original size, try a different style
