Q#1 B...his army was so decimated by the winter they were forced to withdraw. The battle lasted from Aug 21,1942 - Feb 2, 1943 less than 2 years.

Q#2 D...the near total annihilation of his Panzer corp and their inability to secure fuel to continue the battle virtually defeated the Wehrmacht(German army). As I recall the battle occurred in France in the Ardennes Forest. V-E Day ended when Berlin fell.
