From my fiance it is not difficult at all. Although I am not a dummy myself I still consider her to be far more educationally advanced then myself. I may be more scholarly according to street education but she is very well versed in many areas that I am not aware of. Besides she would not criticize me if I did not deserve it.

It all depends on how you take it. If you take it as information that maybe you should know.Do not immediately react, but think over what has been said, then answer in the same tone, I have thought about what you have said and I agree or disagree, then say what you are going to do with the information. The way to check if you are taking information as information,is simple, if you either want to interrupt and challenge you are hurt. This means you have taken the information personally and to heart. I try to take all criticism as information. That Way am able to deal with it in a constructive way. Hope this helps. It takes practise

I think the key word is "constructive" so often people use "destructive" criticism because of popular tv shows like Weakest Link or American Idol. Albeit funny, it's not always constructive.

I can take constructive criticism with a hard swallow of pride.
I can't take destructive criticsim with much grace and usually I come back with my own destruction of their character.

Not hard. I give it back. It is an equal relationship. And it depends on what they are saying to me too. For my bf however, he does not like constructive criticism because he doesn't see it that way, so my approach has to always be different. Every ones personality is different and I believe that we have to accommodate each other. Whether it be friends, family or coworkers.

How do you define "constructive?" Does it mean you disagree with most or all the things he does and want to change him or does it mean you try to understand the things he does and try to work with him? Remember this: your meat may be my hell. You may see it as constructive but he sees it as destructive.
