(I am a machinist who deals with thousandths .001's all day)

On a micrometer one turn of the thimble is .025 (marked in 4 .025 lines on the sleve) and it takes 4 turns of the thimble to reach .100 thousandths....

There are 100 (.001) thousandths in .100

There are 10 one hundred thousands (.100) to make a whole number. (1)

There are 1000 thousandths(.001) that make whole number..

Multiply 1000 X 100,000 And that will give you the answer..

(just incase you have to show your work)

If I read the question correctly: how many 1/1000's or .001 do I need to make 100,000, then the answer is 100 million.
