Yahoo has a FAQ section that gives directions for a PC, but I have a mac. It's annoying to always have old searches pop up when I'm looking for something new.

What you need to do is clear the AutoFill form for your search engines.

Here's how to do it with Safari, but Firefox or whatever willl be similar.
In the menu bar, go to Safari > Preferences
Click on the Autofill Tab
click on the edit button next to "Other forms"
find your search engine (yahoo.com) and click Remove OR
click Remove All

If you don't want them popping up at all in the future, just uncheck the box next to Other Forms
