My favorite team is the Chicago Bears...which probably means that my answer won't get chosen, given your favorite team. Oh, well...;-)
When I was a kid, we moved to Illinois from Texas. My dad and I had a rule: you cheered for whoever you lived closest to. The problem was that we were in Peoria, Illinois, which is almost as close to St. Louis (which had the Cardinals back then) as it is to Chicago.
We went with the Bears because they were in Illinois. It was a good decision. The Bears had just drafted some kid out of Jackson State named Walter Payton. All he did was retire as the leading rusher in NFL history and help the Bears win their lone Super Bowl in 1985.
The Bears later hired a cranky defensive coordinator named Buddy Ryan, a pig farmer in the offseason. Ryan made the leap of intuition that if everyone on offense blocked, one guy still had the ball...which left at least one guy free on the defense to go get him. That was the beginning of the 46 Defense, still the greatest defense ever. Those Bears defenses of the '80s (especially their Super Bowl year of 1985) reduced offenses to jailbreaks at the snap.
I've been hooked ever since.

I am an Indianapolis Colts fan. I have been since 1998 when Peyton Manning came to Indy to start a new era. Every since then I have been cheering on the Blue and White.
