My annual sunflowers usually get to about 5 feet - but the first thunderstorm rolls around and they fall over and break.

Ive grown many types of sunflowers. Some like Russian Mammoth grow to be 10 or more feet high while elf grow about 2 feet. My record is 10 feet 8 inches and it was a Russuan Mammoth variety. Try italian White sunflowers. They dont grow tall but have lots of blooms throughout the year.

Yes. Cut the head of a overripe sunflower and let it dry in the sun for a couple of days. Then plant the seeds about 2-3 inches deep a foot or so apart and wait till spring. We have an abundance of sun flowers and they were all grown from seeds.

Man mine have to be well over 10 ft high. Now you have me curious and after a while I will pull one down and bust out the measuring tape! Twice as tall as my husband. Planted them to screen my garden in case it was a disaster! Not only did garden kick butt but the sunflowers w/ marigolds in front of them are lovely!

I have five in my yard right now, the first ones I grew. They grew anywhere from approx. 6 ft. to maybe 10 ft. (my estimate). The stocks are real thick, I didn't stake them and they are flopping over at the top but I don't mind. I've picked one head and eaten some seeds already. They're pretty cool. Guess I'll go see how they are doing right now.

About 8ft or so, I grow them so my birds can have the seeds, they take a lot of time constantly tying them to supports as they grow,I live in a windy area so need to support them, I always put my old t. bags aroung the roots, and any dregs of beer left over in the bottle etc!! (maybe that's why they don't stand up very well!!)

I grew them once and they have self-seeded every year since. Got some this year that are about 8 foot (roughly 2.5m i think).
