If you start Word again, and it (automatic backups) doesn't show up automatically: then, no...
Via Extra / Options, you can set something like autosave every x minutes (for the NEXT mishap).

Sounds like you're screwed, but in my experience there are a couple of remote possibilities (depending, of course, on what version of Word you have):
1. Start MS Word again and see if it doesn't say something like "Word has recovered this document...please select which copy you want..." something along those lines...or
2. In this I am assuming you are saving your stuff to the "My Documents" folder...look in that folder and see if you have any documents you don't recognize...if you do...MS Word may have been using its "autosave" function and saved it under some other name...
Good luck

If you had AutoSave turned on, then there's a possibility that it saved. Just do a search for the document on your PC.

You can't. Thats why when you type you have to have the instinct of pushing "ctrl + S" aka save. I push it more than I type letters. Do that next time, but again, there's nothing you can do.

You may be able to retrieve if you had the auto save function enable in word. It may still be in your temp directory.

You can't get it back because it's not saved.
