I open my mouth...take a deep breath...and then just let it out..."hello" or "howzit"... I detest kissing people and I don't hug... (like those teenage girls storming towards you, yelling in little bursts of happiness-fits and then hugs you like they have not seen you in months... I HATE THAT... )

My "hello" is different for every person I greet. I have a teenage employee who I greet with a boisterous "Heyoooo!"...I know some native-spanish speakers that I greet with "Hola!" or "Buenos dias!"

Someone I haven't seen in ages might get an "Oh my God how the heck are you?!? I haven't seen you in years!"

But even if it's someone I hate, I'll *usually* have the decency to say "Hi"...if not sarcastically.

it depends on the circumstances, and the mood. for instance, if you are greeting someone for the first time, and you don't know them, you would say..."Hello, my name is so and so"...or if you are in sales, and all the people are new to you,but you assume they need your assistance, then you would approach them, and say, "Hello, may I be of assistance to you?"....there are many Hello's, Hi's, Howdys, or any other type of greeting, just be sure to do it sincerely, and with a smile....ellie
