Does anyone know where I can get a cheap, basic, one piece swimsuit pattern? I am making a chain mail piece, and I need something of that sort for the torso piece.

Try going to hancock fabrics or online and look for Kwiksew patterns - they have tons of swimsuit patterns that may fit your needs. There are some other companies that have swimsuits - Jalie and Stretch&Sew come to mind - but Kwiksew's are consistent and rarely have fit issues.

Can buy both brands at patternreview.com:

wal-Mart and go to the pattern department and look at their sewing for dummies patterns . They cost about 2.00. Have fun.
