the government released a report recently that echoes what anyone that watches the news already knows... things seem to be getting worse... more violence, more killing...

why do conservatives talk about "liberal media lies" in Iraq? Are these explsions staged? Is this report released by the "liberal military"?

Just because they don't tell the good things... is that what it is? The news doesn't tell good things... the job of the news is to tell all the bad things. I don't care that Joe did his job... I do care that 50 people died.

If you want to tell me the media lies in Iraq... please tell me how? And I'm talking overall, not one retard journalist that did something stupid, one guy does not make an entire "lying media"

tok h: it's miliatry regulation that you can't say anything bad about the Army if you're in it to the press... why bother talking to them when it's basically against the law to tell you anything other than positive information? Yeah, I'm sure that's the whole truth?

Perception is reality. If you are constantly bombarded with a biased opinion it will eventually seep in to you. Maybe Iraq is getting worse but certainly those who seek to take down the elected government are giddy that the American press is telling the world how bad it is. Why do you think it took so long for racism to be "alleviated" in the south, that was their culture and those that live there that was their parents culture, they were told all the time, hate the N*****s. So if the media tells you everyday that Iraq is in civil war and then those you know repeat it, then it becomes a reality.

It might be more of the chicken and the egg. Which came first, that is getting bad or is the media being able to convince everyone it is bad. You have to admit that everything you read in the media emboldens those who want to destroy this fledgling government. Never is it said in the media that the Iraqis are kicking insurgent butt. Do you think we could have won WWII with the media we have today? Propaganda works, it just depends on what side you are on. I am on the side of the Iraqis that want freedom and an elected government and believe we are so far into this that to not help them finish it would be immoral.

As far as media lies it is an ongoing thing today, the blue helmet guy in lebanon, the made up photos by reuters, the cnn reporter being led around by hizbullah, the staged ambulance and on and on and on. The media has lost its credibility and I do not see how they are going to get it back.

No one every said setting up a new elected government was going to be easy. These people have been suppressed for decades in a horrible dictatorship. There are neighbors in Iran that would love to see the new government collapse so they can install their totalitarian radical islamism, and you know they are providing all the help they can get away with. Sure the Iraqis would like to see us leave, but which ones, the ones who want to bring it into line with Iran, or the ones who want to be free.

It really seems to be getting worse. Just ask a recently returned service member. Tok h: The media would get the truth if they talk to the service members? What is your version of the truth? The truth is a lot of these men and women come back with severe injuries. A lot of the ones without injuries experience post traumatic stress disorder, others experience depression. My husband just got back 2 months ago and has been a little off since then.

How can the media lie when they capture footage of what goes on there and when the families of the fallen soldiers go stomping up on Capitol Hill to protest? That isn't the media. That's a reality in their lives.

Those people are just living in denial. Rather than to admit that they are wrong is tantamount to blasphemy. As we speak the Iraqi Govt is holding meetings to consider regional autonomy. Cant you just see what we have done? Created a living nightmare. At least when we were dealing with Saddam we only had to deal with one govt.
The day is coming when they will wish that Saddam was back.
Cant you just see it when The Sadr city shi-ites align themselves with Iran as they openly supported Hizbollah?

Why won't the media talk to the soldiers? Because they would get the truth and that wouldn't do.

If people don't trust the news source, they're not going to believe what it says. Sadly, we've gone beyond that, and too many people refuse to accept any news they don't agree with, regardless of the source.
