I am a finance manager now but, I started going to school a few years ago to be a Private Investigator but, my financial aid fell through, hence, finance manager. I'm thinking about continuing it when my boyfriend is out of school and I get some bills paid off. Right now it would be impossible. I think a field in investigating or forensics would be very interesting. I love that kind of stuff. Even when I was a kid I had this thing for spying. Weird. Maybe. But I was good at it.

Probably a homicide detective if I had it to do it over again. I've worked on a couple of mystery novels (editing) and found them fascinating. Forensics requires a lot of science which I never pursued. Too busy trying to be rich and famous as an author. Didn't do that either. Good luck.

Dog Lover hit the nail on the head. Crime lab technicians examine evidence sent to them by the people actually working the case. Pure evidence technicians collect and package evidence, but have no contact with witnesses/suspects. CSI gives people the idea that there is some group out there that does it all on major cases. The only way you'll collect the evidence AND work the case is if you work for an agency small enough not to have specailized those jobs out. Degrees don't make good cops, that comes from experience and natural talent.

I have thought that I want to be a homicide detective. I think it's something I'd be good at.

I'm a bit cleverer than most people, and surely cleverer than the average killer.

You wouldn't happen to know how to become a homicide detective, would you?
