In the first weeks that is all that they do. When they are about 2 months they are a little more alert. It depends on the baby. My baby is 4 months now he sleeps a little but is up at least 3 hours and now he sleeps all night. No cereal as some mothers give their babies to help them sleep all night

definitely normal. with my first son i let him sleep for as long as he wanted whenever he wanted. it took him 3 months before he slept through the night. with my second son, a nurse in the hospital suggested not letting him sleep too much during the day. he started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. a 6 day old baby is still trying to recover from delivery. try and talk to her and keep her up as much as possible during the day. it may help.

Yes this is pretty normal, my daughter is 6 months and she has just started staying awake longer during the day, and she sleeps the night through, for about 6 hours, finally thank god.

Enjoy it while you can. Alot of babies are different. My little girl stop sleeping as much through the day when she was 8 weeks old. Now..its hard to get anything done..but thats a part of motherhood, i wouldn't change it for the world..

Enjoy it! My son is 2 now and I have a heck of a time getting him to take his nap. And it is completely normal. A newborn sleeps 16-20 hours normally.

newborns sleep all day the first few weeks. after a while you keep attempting the schedule of going to bed at a certain time, she'll start to learn it and start to sleep longer and when she starts sleeping longer, keep her awake by playing with her close to bed time and then when its bed time, she'll sleep longer at the time she should sleep. it takes SO much practice and SO much patience, but you can do it
