Of course The Red Sox still have a chance.
It aint over til it's over,
and there is still the whole month of September.
Anything can happen.

Sorry, I think the Red Sox are finished for the this year. The loss of Damon and Arroyo has certainly hurt. Key injuries to Varitek and Nixon also came at a very bad time. The pitching has not been good enough to stay with the Yankees this year. Nothing is impossible, but the Red Sox look like a team going nowhere right now.

The Red Sox can indeed pull it off, as there have been many examples in baseball history of overcoming large deficits (the Mets had to do it from the end of August in 1969, for instance).
Will they do it? Their injuries mitigate against it. The Steinbrenners overcame a series of injuries, but there was time left in the season to recover. The Sox have only a month left. They're going to have to staple a lot of ankles! (That's a reference to Curt Schilling in 2004, for the uninitiated.) Also, the Steinbrenners are going to have to lose a few games.
Still, as a great Yankee (not a Steinbrenner) and Georgie Porgie pointed out, it ain't over 'til it's over. I maintain hope for the Red Sox and your husband and sister-in-law should, too. Perhaps if the Steinbrenners stay out of the playoff picture for a few years George Steinbrenner will fire himself and the Yankees can return to true greatness.

Theyre 10 out in the loss column to the Yankees in Division..so thats lost. but theyre only 6 out in the Wild card. Thats possible, because the Twins and Whitesox dont seem to want to step up and win it. But the problem for boston is the same as it always was... they have NO pitching, not in starting Rotation with Schilling a bit sore and Beckett giving up HRs at a record pace, and their Bullpen is maybe as bad as there is in American League, maybe only Kansas City is worse.. and throw in now that their Great Closer, Papelbon, is gone for year.... Ild haveta say no, the Redsox look Dead.

With around 20 games left to play, only an amazing Yankee losing streak combined with an amazing Boston winning streak would do it; sorry--doesn't look like a repeat of 2004. Even the Wild Card chances are very slim...

I doubt it. I am a little disappointed myself. I am a Mets fan and I sure didn't want to see those damn Yankees get on a roll. I wanted a Mets/ Bosox series. Now it's gonna be a Subway series. Lets face it these are the 2 teams there this year people all the way.

I had expected Chicago to win tonight in another low scoring, defensive battle. I'm surprised the White Sox offense is exploding like this. Currently 8-1 Chicago.

Not really. The only way they can clinch the division is for Yankee downfall. I'm talking from a analysis persepetive. Their pitching and offense is basically ruined. Unless they can get ehre 3-4-5 hitters healthy and get back the capitan then MAYBE they might be said, but as of right now, I don't think they got a chance.

Nah they have to much injuries and weak bullpen. New York sured up there line up at the trade deadline.
It looks like the wild card might come out the central division. There is alot of stronger and balanced teams in the central.
To bad for the huge payroll, who said that a big payroll will get you the playoffs.

They will have to get a hope up cause the Yankees are on fire now that A-rod fixed his problem. Yankees I think will go to the playoffs and the Wild card will be the Tigars cause i see The Twins take the Central AL.
