He was always called Captain Hook. He only got the hook after he walked the plank and got attacked by a crocodile (hence the hook).
His full name is Captain James Hook.
Also he has not and nor has he ever been a relation of Steve 'Cor Crikey, Crocodile Hunter' Irwin.
