my laptop is dead, no lights, no fans, the power supply is fine (tested) ............does this mean a new motherboard?.........what else could it be?

Are you sure the power supply is good?

Have you checked the power connector cable that connects from power supply to motherboard?

Sounds like its a power issue. If the motherboard was fried you would at least get a light on or a noise.

I would check all connections.

Is the fuse in the plug ok (power surge can blow them) other wise try hitting it repeatedly with a large hammer and claim off insurance - works 4 me

Charge it fully like 8 hours on most labtops if it still dont work send it back to them and see what they say about it they may have 2 get u new stuff inside.

The battery may be faulty. Take it out and try AC power then. If it works, buy a replacement battery if feasible.

They are funny beasts!

Ours just died - no sign of life or anything. Changed the hard disk and it worked straight away. Odd!

How about your battery? did you check that, maybe its faulted and its screwing up the computer.....The only thing i could think of is that the computer has been electriacally shocked..
