so i got a little over 2 months till bball tryouts, and its time for conditioning, so what can i do to get myself more fit in better shape, jumping higher, become faster quicker and stronger for the season. Im 14 and im trying out for JV, im 5'10" so thats about a SF, i wanna do all this stuff, but what kind of workouts in the weight room should i do, and what should i avoid, and eating and stuff, plus will lifting stunt my growth

my man you got the right idea by doing workouts early...back in my day I waited way to long, but had enough heart and hustle to make the team.

Lets start with the basics:

Run at least 1 mile a day for the first two weeks, then add a 1/4 mile each week until you are up to 3 miles or 30 minutes...which ever comes first.

Weights: You should lift very light weights with high repititions. You do not want to gain mass as much as you want to gain tone. Your body will start to add mass as you get older(16 - 17). Try doing nothing more than your body weight on the bench.

Do tons of legs excercises ie. calf raises and squats, this will help your jumping tremendously.

My last tip is to work on both dribling and shooting with your off hand, A SF who can also handle the rocck is a gold mine. Also being able to finish at the glass with both hands is something a coach notices...trust me!!
