Because an adult is better equipped to handle criticism... actually it is NOT OK to call anybody ugly really, because that makes you an ugly person... and you don't want that hanging around your neck do you? Treat people with respect and dignity no matter what they look like, what race they are, what gender they are, how old they are or even how they treat you... The world would be a better place for it.

An adult has matured supposedly as much as they are going to while a child hasn't fully developed yet. There could be psychological damage inflicted on a child's psyche that could mar him/her for the rest of his/her life.

We tend to be forgiving towards kids as we feel they (kids) don't know/ make sense of their own judgments anyway so who're we to judge them?
Whereas adults should know better.
Truthfully... I think both should be held accountable for their own actions. After all, it's best to start them young. To instill them the value of self-worth & respect.
Noone is ugly but we're not perfect either. It's our flaws, imperfections that makes us all unique, special in our own way.

i agree with Mort... but to answer the question...I have called grown ppl ugly, because they WERE ugly... but not to call a kid that, is because the kid MAY grow up to be pretty.... what stumps me is two ugly ppl making pretty children....anyhow, back to the question.. ugliness i think, comes from within... i have used the term " bone ugly" and it makes ppl wonder... it simply means, that while beauty is skin deep, true ugliness goes to the bone....

I don't think it's ok to call anyone ugly, beauty is only skin deep, however real beauty comes from deep within.
