I am a white guy and my hair is dark and naturally curly. I like the short dread/loose cornrows look...

Is it considered cultural appropriation to adopt a hairstyle which traditionally is of African origin?

For me it would not be a political statement but an aesthetic one. I just like the look and think it would suit my face and build. Your comments, please. Thank you.

I think the sooner we as a country quit worrying about what is attributed to certain races and just did what suited us we wouldn't have to worry about something being not suited for a race. If it looks good on you then go for it, and never mind those that look or comment. They're just ignorant and closed minded.

It depends on the context. If you're trying to look like KFed, you'll look like a fool. If you're not attempting to imitate "thugs" living far from your caucasian enclave, but wish to add cornrows to your already eclectic style, then go 'head and make the most of your white naps.

Have you seen the movie "Panic Room".

Jared had cornrows in that movie and he looked hot.

If you feel good with styling your hair like that and you also feel attractive; then by all means wear the hairstyle.

It's your head, your body. If you think you would look nice wearing braids, go for it! And if someone has any issues tell them that you arent doing your hair for them, but rather for yourself. Having your hair braided isnt specific to one group of people- so i say go for it!
