I have a short-wave radio (world receiver). I want to know how to minimize static and maximize stations.

Get yourself a yagi array, and an antenna rotator.

Will cost $, but the only way to increase selectivity & sensitivity while reducing noise.

Large antennas (matched to the receiver input) mounted as high as possible above the ground. And live somewhere there is a minimum of manmade noise.
