Well around my house I believe it is because of the trees that have sap. It is the food chain. The sap attracts the bugs which the spiders feed on.

I believe the very mild climate and warm dry days effect all the insect population more flys more bugs and more spiders to keep them in check. I guess its just natures way of keeping the whole thing balanced.And yes there are a lot of them about.

I think nothing about winter...perhaps more due to warmth and humidity in your home to which spiders and other bugs are attracted. And, in this case, spiders are attracted by all the other bugs coming in......Dinner! (for the spiders)

Spiders appear in August when fall is around the corner. They spin their webs to catch flies for consummation.

it means more spiders are gonna be in my basement during the winter . i think its something to do with global warming .

Means nothing! Spiders are tough to kill unless you step on them or spray them directly with insecticide.

someone ones told me...we are never more than six feet away from a spider...freaks me out ...hope it isn't true.

it has to do with the easy available prey the food supplies are record numbers
