dude,
if your mum and grandma don't want you to watch tv in the afternoon, why don't you go outside and hang out with friends and do sports or something? Freakin life doesn't exist in the T.V. ya know....
Nonetheless,
one way is heat. the TV and cable box if you have one will be warm for a long time after it's been turned off. you can't do anything about it either - there's no safe way to cool it off that would effectively throw them off the trail.
They also might remember what channel it was on. If you don't return it to the channel it was on that's another way to tell.
Maybe you leave a mark where you sit- upholsterey covering or carpet on the floor?
Parents are smart, dude. Go do something outside. You'll feel better anyway.

You're gonna get caught. They probably know because of the glazed look over your face and your mind has turned to mush from watching too much TV.
They probably do not know but your guilty conscious gives you away.
Maybe you haven't done your chores/homework.
You'll be better off if you are up front with them and try to compromise. Limit yourself to 60 minutes of TV and do something constructive the rest of the time.

They can touch the tv and feel the warth it creates while its running. If you know when they get home, shut the tv off like 30 min to an hour before. The longer it's off the less likely they will be able to tell. Oh and check the channel it turns onto, and the last button channel. before you turn it off, go to the last button channel #, then to the channel #it turned onto. Just in case they are really smart.

All you have to do when you turn the t.v on make sure that you remember what station it is on. Next don't touch the volume unless you can remember exactly where it was. This way when they get home and they want to watch the t.v it was on the same station and the volume is where it was when they left. One other thing when using the remote make sure that your fingers aren't greasy because they will be able to feel the grease.

Dont get caught out with this one, the screen builds up static and when you touch it you can feel it, make sure you discharge the static by rubbing a cotton cloth over the screen.

When you use a TV, the screen creates static and dust sticks to it. If they clean the screen and then find dust on it later, then they know its been on, and if it wasn't either of them...
