It's called supper in the small town of Portage, PA.

I think it would all depend on which house you walked into. Some folks sup and some folks dine.

'Supper' goes at least as far back as the middle ages, maybe even farther. I'm not sure about the origin of 'dinner.'

I think dinner. There's a difference between the 2 but I think its a southern thing.
