I am using 12x12 natural slate for a sidewalk and there are a couple of curves, how do I cut the curves without the tile breaking apart or flaking?

out side curves are easiest.
scribe your curve.
cut a bit, re set the position of the tile re cut

inside scribe cut
the second cut requires you to cut a notch out to continue the cut.
\cut notch cut notch
if you are using a skill saw, use the blade as a router to widen the cut bed and make many shallow cuts. initially drop the saw guide depth to get a consistant cut. with practice you won't have to use the guide.
get some junk tile to practice first

use a tile scoring knife after drawing the pattern on both sides then score both sides well and pray and snap another way wpould be to breack off one side of the cut and then the other in sectins like a piece at a time or use a wet saw from depot rentals to cut to the lines and then snap the scored lines
