My dad is impossible to buy for, so I almost always end up buying him a new DVD or two. I find out which ones he has (they live in a different state) and then I fnd out which ones he would like and I go from there. Although, this year, I might be buying him a really cool shirt hat I think he would LOVE. My girls always get their dad a tie and a book and something silly. One year we got him Simpsons shot glasses.

Probably anything he would likely buy for himself but haven't done so...so if he has a closet full of ties that he complains about; shelves of books he doesn't even read; or he rarely goes out recreationally...then buying another tie, book, or movie will not be a good choice.

a gift that he knows you have put some thought into...that shows you know his unique likes, dislikes, dreams, etc. It may just be time w/ you.

Dads like different things. Be a detective and study what he watches on TV, the food he likes, and maybe even something he's kept his eye on in a catalogue. A tie is an everyday thing, so maybe something different would be nice.

Dads like hobby stuff. Like fishing gear and such. If your dad likes science fiction, go to a discovery store. (it's an actual store name related to discovery channel) I hope you have it one around where you live. These stores are the coolest. There is whole bunch of high-tech, weird science stuff, that is interesting and fun.

I lost my dad last November, and guess what? All the gifts that he received are still here, but he's not. Kind of put things into perspective for me. Don't stress about a "gift". Take him out to lunch, go to a concert together, go play golf together. In other words, give him (and you) a memory. That's a priceless gift.

Most dads like to snack - so I would make him up a really cool snack center. Get a box or a bucket - put tissue in the bottom - then load it up with homemade goodies - like cookies, popcorn, candies - beef jerkey, cheese sticks, cheese whiz, crackers, chips, nuts, Chex mix - and whatever he likes to drink - soda, water, beer. Then you can tie a bandana on the handle of the bucket like a bow. Or if you are putting it in a box - paint on the box "Dad's Snacks - or Snack Center". Good Luck!

My father has always been impossible to buy for. A few years ago, I bought him a book of car washes, and if he bought gas there, with the wash, he got .10 off a gallon.

He actually liked that.

I like what ever my kids get me. I know it's from there heart, and that's what counts. If your dad has a favor hobby, see what he's in need of. or doesn't have. sometimes you don't need to spend alot, it's just the thought that you are interested in what he is doing. Good luck.........
