She had her first "15 minutes" a couple of years ago with "Wherever, Whenever". Unless she can reinvent herself AGAIN then she probably won't last. She'll have to be like Madonna or Cher to keep up with the ever changing music world.

15 minutes??? ROTFLMFAO!!! That's really funny. She's been making albums with Sony since she was 13 (that's 16 years ago, hon. A lot more than 15 minutes.) She continues to break records - did you know that "La Tortura" was the first Spanish language video to enter regular rotation on MTV??? And "Hips Don't Lie" is the most played song in US history??? SHE WRITES ALL OF HER OWN MATERIAL, ever since her Pies Descalzos album. This woman reportedly has an IQ of 140. She writes amazing music and has an amazing voice. She's also a humanitarian - she started her own charity in Colombia (called Pies Descalzos, after her first big album) that builds schools for children displaced by violence. And she's GORGEOUS.
By the way, if you think she's Mexican, you're sorely mistaken... she's COLOMBIAN and LEBANESE. And have you actually seen her dance? She doesn't just dance in Latin style (or "Mexican," as you call it,) she also belly dances (has since she was a child) and uses many other ethnic influences in her dancing.
Shakira has 80+ songs, BESIDES "Hips Don't Lie," and almost all of her albums have been multi-Platinum and multi award-winning. Her current world tour is sold-out all over and has attracted millions of fans.
That, my friend, is what she's "got" besides her hips.
Shakira has a lot more than 15 minutes behind her, and a hell of a lot more in front of her.

You are so wrong. Shakira has had this move for years, way before when her hair was black and red and she was a beginner in the music industry. You obviously don't have a clue. This dance is LEBANESE, and not performed in Mexico. FYI, Latin America isn't just Mexico, it is comprised from more than 300 different countries that differ in culture, lexicon, etc. I feel like insulting you.....

Perhaps but she has been around the Latin entertainment circuit for a while, I think about 5-10 years. Her 15 minutes may be up in America but I dont think it will be the same for her native land. Also, have you heard her live? Ugh! Someone has some help with their vocals...
