Open Office. It is a whole office suite though, so if you are going to download it I hope you have broadband! But the package is cool.

A word processor is a program that you type into to write papers, letters, and such. If you are using a Windows computer, you should have a free standard word processor available called WordPad. In order to get to WordPad:
Click on Start
Go to All Programs
Go to Accessories
Go to WordPad

I agree with another user here. Try Open Ofice found at http://openoffice.org.
It is a free suite of software that includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, powerpoint like viewer/editor, and other stuff FOR FREE.
And byt the way- it is pretty good stuff too. I have started using it at my office instead of Microsoft Office.

Whoa.. back up..In the first place.. it is an APPLICATION.....A word processor (also more formally known as a document preparation system) is a computer application used for the production (including composition, editing, formatting, and possibly printing) of any sort of viewable or printed material.
It is part of the computer when you buy it. Each computer that I purchased, it already had that APPLICATION on it.
