You could survive a 300 foot drop during a 1000 foot fall....

I have heard from those "Believe it or not" or "strange facts" type TV shows of people who have survived parachute malfunctions, or falling out of buildings, over waterfalls and living to tell about it have fell hundreds of feet....so i guess it could happen, just the probability is low.

no, the height at which 50% of people will die is 20- 30 feet (called the LD50 height), 300 foot straight drop would shread your solid abdominal organs to bits based on acceleration and deceleration forces and the laws of physics, the person who answered about the shoot not opening; the fall was decelerated in some way, tangled cords, etc because this height is lethal 100% if unobstructed

I met a guy who survived an 800' drop at Fort Bragg in '87, when his chute failed to open. He was taken to the base hospital and released THE SAME DAY. He was around 20 back then and in pretty good shape, but the fact that he survived uninjured was nothing short of a miracle! I saved the article on the base paper ....

It does happen. There are hundreds of documented cases where people fell hundreds or even thousands of feet and lived. Some without any injuries.
