I got hired at my job about 2 months ago and my manager is my best friend and we were best friends before I got hired. She is the one that hired me against thwe wishes of the owner of the business who is in afganistan. Now the owner who doesn't like me for unknown reasons wants her to fire me for no reason. What would you do if you were in her situation and mine? And on top of thathe wants her to put on the termination papers tha ti violated a company policy by being friends with her. What do you all think?

Let the owner fire you. That way you can collect unemployment. It isn't worth it to stay there if the owner has a grudge against you...he is probably just jealous that you guys are friends. I would definately leave no matter what...he is only going to make your life miserable and it doesn't pay to have both you and your friend lose your jobs.

well i highly doubt it violates company policy, but it is unethical to hire someone your friends with...especially if that person is your manager...because if anything happens in your favor it could be viewed as favoritism...if she does fire you or if the owner does then you can take them to court, because they had no reason for firing you...personally i would never work with a friend especially one who is my boss, it just makes any situation uncomfortable

being friends with your manager is no big deal. being professionals at work you know how to act accordingly

if I was her situation, I would ask why the boss wants to fire you and i won't any stupid answer like "because i don't like her that's all" and if ever there is a 'valid' answer then i would talk you.

He problably has a reason that you know and that you are not disclosing. It is hard to be a manager and be in a position where you are in charge of your friends. It was a mistake on her part to hire you.

Sounds like a no-win situtation for everyone. If it's your dream job, try to stick it out and stay, but otherwise I'd run like the wind and find something else. Doesn't sound like you are being treated fairly and who wants to jeopardize a job or friendship?

The boss is the boss. Being in managment myself, you can't do your job correctly if you have a friendship clouding your judgement.
