I'm not a smoker, but I just saw a commercial on TV that advertised them. Supposedly some of the major companies are coming out with a series of flavored cigarettes. They are going to be in such flavors as Twisted Lemon, Midnight Berry, and Grape.

What is your opinion on this? Do you think it is a little too angled toward children and teens?

Again, I am not a smoker. I have too many heart problems as it is. I was just wondering what your opinion is.

Thanks!

Cloves are flavored with clove spices. They come in black, brown, and white colors, as well as light and menthol varieties. I've smoked them all, I prefer the black ones myself. They're an acquired taste and quite expensive unless you know where to buy them cheap.

Camel makes a variety of flavored cigarettes. I've tried some of them. They come in tins and are expensive. They come in Twisted [orange flavored] and Crema [cream flavored]. I think they make a mint and some other flavors as well, but I've only smoked the ones I mentioned above.

I do think they are aimed to towards a younger and more selective market of smokers. A lot of my friends [and myself] smoke cigarettes and we feel that if we're going to be dropping $4-6 a pack anyway, we might as well smoke something that is worth the money. I also think that the child appeal is diminished, at least in the community where I live, because you have to go to the liqour store or a smoke shop to get them. Also, as mentioned above, they are between $5-6 a pack depending on where you buy them and what kind you get. That fact alone deters many younger [teenage] smokers from buying them. They're still going for the more mainstream brands like Marlboro, Doral, Kools, Newports and Camels because they are the most popular brands, and they've seen their parents, grandparents, friends, and about 99% of the people they know smoke those popular and traditional brands and of course, well-advertised brands.

That is a base line for cigarettes. There would be horrific repercussions if that was removed. As a smoker, I understand. The gooberment made them FSC, fire Safe Cigarette that sort of changed them, but it's still didn't cross over that line. For any issue, there is a line. The gooberment can play their games and get close to it, but at some point the dogs chain becomes long enough to inflict a bad bite, and even worse... depending on the issue. .

I have heard about this. It is very interesting how they are making "flavors" out of everything. I mean, flavored cigarettes. Of course they are towards kids. I mean, a kid could actually say it is not that "habit" forming because they are not smoking "regular" cigarettes. You know that is going to be the excuse of at least one of the kids. And with names like 'Twisted Lemon' and 'Midnight Berry' and 'Grape', you know adults do not care, but, kids do. Sad. Really f-ucking sad.

i am a smoker myself and as much as this sounds interesting i think that the government should be doing everything they can to stop new smokers, especially young teenagers.
the tobacco companies have shown themselves to be callous and underhand but if they do this, i think it is going too far. As this is clearly marketed at a younger consumer.
In UK, you can now buy packs of 16 B&H as far as im concerned this is aimed at kids who cant afford 20.
Any atrtempts to recruit smokers is wrong, they should give more support to people trying to quit.

I remember flavored cigarettes when I was in college. They were from Europe and came in different colors. Tasted awful.
