The core of the earth is iron --liquid iron under pressurek, sloshing around with its own currents and spinning --that's a magnet and it is throwing off electrons and generating a magnetic field.

Now I may not get this right, but I do believe that the core of our earth is molten lava that spins at hundreds if not thousands of miles per hour inside the core of our earth.
This lava is made of heavy metals such as iron. As a result of the spinning of this core at high speeds (like a generator where a magnet spins really fast around copper wire to create electricity), a magnetic field is generated around our world which gives us not only gravity, but that magnetic field also helps protect us by reflecting the sun around our planet so we are not fried like an egg by the sun.
Hope I got that right.

It's the hot lava and the movement of the molten lava at the center of the earth. If it stops moving, all kinds of stuff starts happening in a bad way, like magnetic pulses, tidal waves, ice storms, any of this sound familiar, watch "The Core" right up your alley.

Its molten core is rotating very fast, causing a magnitic rift causing the Magnetic north and south pole. There is a good movie about this
somewhere, when the core stops and the effects of that.
Oh yeah its called The Core, its a good movie

The core is made up of two layers. A molten iron layer revolves around a solid iron core. They set up an electric field in the same way that a dynamo creates an electric field.
Without it, or if the revolving layer stopped, we would be dead - zapped by cosmic and solar high energy particles.

It is due to the nickel iron sulfide core of the earth. My own personal hypothsis (guess) is that it has something to do with moving a iron through an electric field, as the earth travels through the universe.
