Because:
1) They are horny and most people know what cold water does to guys balls - it will make them uninterested in sex and more interested in getting warm.
2) They live in the South US where it is 100 or more on most summer days (Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona) and it's the only way to cool down.
3) They are drunk and although it's a misconception that it will sober them up, it will really just make them temporarily more alert.
4) The hot water heater may be out.

... I'm not sure. There's a random way just thrown in there, so I don't know exactly what's going on.
But maybe they thought you wanted to take a cold shower, and the way was just a typo. Or, more likely... it went something like this:
"Why would someone wa" was written before they became distracted. The sentence would have been, "Why would someone want to take a cold shower?" Because they stopped in the middle of their sentence, when they picked it up they were slightly confused and ended up with the grammatical monstrosity that we see here.

Well that depends on if you were the one they said needed the shower or if they were the ones who needed it.
It is a reference to being sexually aroused and the taking of a cold shower will effectively cool off the persons need for sex.
that is all it means honey.

It's just an expression people use when someone gets hot and horny......"Go take a cold shower" ....in other words....cool off!

well if it was from a guy that means that when they cant get no *** either they usee thier hands or they would get in the could shower so that threy would be focusing on freezing thier asses off than sex lol!
