Texas Chainsaw Massacre is nauseating and downright terrifying, and so is House of Wax- disturbing. Signs is also pretty chilling. Lost Boys isnt really scary, but freaky, and Saw 1 and 2 - I cant even watch them. But if you wanna watch something scary, you can always just turn on The View.

The Shining (Steven King)
Sleep Walkers (Steven King)
Kind of scary, but everyone has a different definition of scary.
Like "SAW" scary somewhat, gorey difinitely.
and a classic "Deliverence", not really defined as a horror movie but if you were in this situation it would definitely be scary.

The only movie I ever saw that really scared me was The Exorcist. Of course I was 7 years old at the time.

In the Mouth of Madness is one of the few movies that actually scared me. It is very hard for a movie to scare me.

If gore does it for you, then try Hostel. If f***ed up psychos do it for you, then try Five Corners. Or if you wanted to try a little of both, then the new movie, The Descent, might do.
