Make sure you walk by the landmarks the countries you are visiting. Why not invest in a MP3 player that accepts normal batteries and not just needs to be recharged. There are plenty of Soap Shampoos just go to somewhere like Superdrug or Boots. I'm sure you can find someone generous enough to let you use a plug to charge a phone on your travels, even more so if your doing something for charity.
Best place to advertise is to get places to put up notes and get the national news and papers into it. They are normally wanting to help get charity events going. A website also helps, if you need help with one then I am a webmaster and can help you out if you need it.

things you can do, what about a little bit of work free of charge, such as cleaning windows for elderly in some of the places you stop or pass through or cut grass or fill shelves in a supermarket stuff like that. soap and shampoo, get in touch with a company that makes and or supplies sachets of shampoo and ask if they would donate sachets for your walk or even part of it, you could mention the company as a sponser, you can use the shampoo as soap, and when you've used a sachet your luggage is slightly lighter.

Lush have shampoo bars.

I'm not sure, but I think if you want to power your Ipod, any solar power sheet would be too big. You could always bring your charger and an adaptor and find a good samaritan!

Check Innovations & chandlers shops for wind-up universal chargers. I've seen them at boat shows.
