ok i read this book one thousand dollars by o henry and had no clue what this story was about can someone please summarize the story so i can answer these questions please!

The short story is a joke! He gave the money to Miss Hayden, as an insult. Then after realizing he did the "right thing" to earn more money, he lied to the lawyers, which would mean he gets the more money. To understand how this happens, you must understand the joke!

You read it and you have no idea what it's about? That seems suspicious, I've seen even bad readers figure out what a book is about. Instead of having people do your dirty work for you why don't you try actually reading the book.
