I am looking to get a PDA/Phone so I can do some work out of the office, and am trying to figure out which device and Service Provider will give me most of the features listed below:

- Word and Excel applications
- The ability to then send those files as a fax once completed, if such as possible
- Can connect internationally
- Downloadable ringtones
- Camera
- Sliding Keypad (not a complete necessity)
- Supports Internet, or can be connected to a computer to act as a Modem(seen this option with Sprint, not sure if others have it)

The big one I am looking for is being able to download ringtones, most devices I have seen don't have the option...

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Treo700P or W

700P if you like Palm/Sprint
700W if you like Windows/Verizon

It'll handle all of the above (i'm not 100% sure about fax, but I think that too)

These providers have a return policy. Try both and see how you feel!

Checkout mytreo.net for software that will help you get set-up

Also, Documents to go 8 is standard and that will allow you to create/edit MS Office files as well as give you native support for PDF.

As for ring tones, Treo can play MP3 files as ringtones.

Enjoy and good luck,
Mike

Right now Verizon and Sprint have fast internet connections. Cingular should be coming out with something very soon to compete with the CDMA carriers. You should be looking at smartphones with Windows Mobile 5 if youwant the smoothes interaction with MS Word and Excel. My Treo 650 with the Palm OS allows me to work with both, but it's an additional cost to have it fully compatible. The smartphones with Windows allow you to download ringtones in wma and mp3 without having to use a third party application. My Palm OS uses the old midi files for the ringtones. You may also want to find a phone with bluetooth so you can talk hands-free as well as use it to transfer data to your laptop (if you have bluetooth). I hope this helps. Have fun with the whole process, and remember not to let the sales guys talk you into something you don't want.

Hi,
I shop quite a bit and I have found that the cheapest prices search engine has almost every merchant on the Internet and they have lots of consumer written reviews, over a million.
Almost every merchant is there and some offer prices lower there trying to earn your business. You can also email a couple of merchants with your requirements and then go back and compare the ones they recommend.
You could also check out some reviews and see if you could get what you want by learning what others have bought.
I really hope this helps you. It may not be the answer, but maybe it will help you out.
I wish good luck to you and I really hope you find what you need.

Check your budget before you buy a little one that you won't fit confortable, buy your PDA that take all your needs, It's more like to buy a mobile phone than any other thing because you will be working with it too much time, so buy something useful!!

Have a nice day

Get the one that you like and can do all that stuff. Or just get a regular cell phone and a small lap top computer to take with you.
