car has a/c and is leaking coolant from the little drain hole just below the a/c line where it meets the firewall. i think the hole it's comeing out of is for condensation from the evaporator core to drip out. but sometimes coolant comes out of it. so i've had to stop takeing long trips with the car until i find out what it is or the cause.any ifno would be greatly appreciated.

Heater core is leaking, The dash will have to be removed to install a new one. DO NOT let a shade tree mechanic do this.

Depending on where U live - Either have the Heater Core Bypassed & B without a Heater - OR U Need a New Heater Core ! Some of them are MANY $$$ Because the Evaporator case has 2 B pulled, others, which U probably don't have - only take a few minutes.

Heater core leak. Easy fixes: 1 by-pass it, if you don't need heat. connect the two hoses at firewall together. 2. Bars Leak or any type of stop leak may work, follows directions. Worst fix: change heater core. involves removing instrument panel and recovering a/c. 4 hour job max.

the water pump is located near the passenger side front wheel. Also check your transmission coolant lines - look at the bottom of your radiator - they will enter and leave on each side. These lines run to the transmission (located on the right and to the rear as you face the car's front). Antifreeze can follow those lines back a distance and "drop off". Check all hoses to see they are completely secured...clamps down, etc. Never open a radiator top or even the recovery top while the engine is hot. The hissing sound stopped becaause all the pressure was released from the system.

Sound like a heater core. If the inside of your windshield seems to be getting a film, or if you smell coolant while driving that is a confirmed diagnosis.

Heater core is the most likely sorce of the problem, but it may also just be a loose hose clamp to the heater core..Good luck.

It's very likely that the rear freeze plug has developed a small hole, and will get worse. You usually have to remove the engine to replace it, and replace all the others at the same time. A mechanic replaced a rear freeze plug on my 54 ford by cutting a flap in the fire wall with a torch, removing the old plug and replacing it. Must use lots of wet rags and be very careful of fire. Will save you a lot on money, versus removing the engine.
