Of course there are many French who are rude, annoying cowards. However, those traits are abundant among the American populace as well. We have over 50 percent of this country reelect a man who is for preemptive war, thus we also, by implication, are giving consent to a preemptive war, and yet we are having a shortage of recruitment to the military all around this nation. There is a vast disconnect between people who are willing to send the poor and economically challenged to die for a war they indirectly voted for. If so many people are willing agree as to the purposes of this war, as indicated by their reelection of Bush, it makes no sense why there is a dearth in willing participants. There shouldn’t be paucity in enlistments; there should be an overflow of those who want to actively serve the military. Truth is, this indicates cowardice abounds in America, especially among the right. At least France is morally consistent. They are reticent to get into war, and yet they don’t like the fact that anyone else is getting involved in Iraq either.

The French have long been label rude and annoying. At least their education system, like many European countries, insists that their students have a good grasp of more than their own native tongue. Most graduates from France, Spain, Germany or any other major European country have been exposed to at least two to three languages in formal classes from elementary school through graduation. Most Europeans, who are college graduates, are fluent in at least two, if not three languages. Americans conversely, except for a few, are not fluent in any language but their own, and even that is debatable (see Bush’s verbal blunders as an example). They take no interest in foreign cultures, and only emphasize the learning of a foreign language for two years in high school – and that is only for students who are college bound. Isn’t the blatant and willful effort to ignore the outside world the epitome of rudeness, annoyance, and arrogance?

Rude, annoying, and cowardly? All I have to say is that it takes one to know one.

Some French are rude, but many are very nice.

In all honesty I prefer the French to the Americans. I've met loads of arrogant, rude, patronising, bigmouthed, visa and travellers-cheque-flashing American tourists who make you think that they shouldn't be allowed out of their own country because all they do is offend people in the countries they visit. French usually have a bit more style and class.

The French are neither rude, annoying or cowards. The French are a cultured race. France is a well run country. France is also a republic. Vive la France.

The only french canadian I've met was a rather disturbed male who thought he could use his position in a hostel to "put the hard word" on all the females staying there.

He clearly needed medication and the many restraining orders he earnt.

Probably the same people who voted for Bush. They are very nice pleasant people. You might know that if you could afford a plane ticket to France. However im going to assume you are in a red state and therefore can not because your low iq prevents you from holding above a meaningless job.If you think they are rude and have actually been to France, did you bother to learn the language or do you just assume they should speak English?

You can't even spell controversy! The canadians seem to be in a place of comfort, here;s hoping terrorists don't strike their soil.

Or did you want to discuss the fact that they make people who live in their province, learn to speak French. It sounds reasonable to me that if you want to live and work in a country, you learn their language, customs etc., why else would you want to live in a different society and culture, other than to embrace the difference in culture and intergrate.

No, no and no. The French people I have met are charming and friendly. Their government simply refuses to trot along behind Dubya and so he brands them cowards.
Vive la France, et merde a Dubya.
