Probably because of that old dumb TV series about the Kung Fu man, who came back the Wild, wild West. It makes you sound like you're wise.

"You are learning, Cricket! Teach you I will...."

I always took it to mean he was translating into English from whatever language a Yoda speaks.

Many languages have their verbs at the end of sentences.
