My answer is that its ok for guys to wear earrings because girls also wear guys clothing too like tom boys, and that means that girls want to be guys too so that means if girls wont to be girls and then guys can be like girls too by puting on earrings.

Well, first of all I have my ears pierced and wear earrings (small diamond studs and hoops). I am a 22 year old straight white male who is a college graduate. So that really kills any stereotypes that are out there. As far as the gay stereotype, there once was a perception/belief that guys who wore earrings-especially any size hoop earrings- are gay. However, that is so 20 years ago like someone else said. The shaved head with hoop earrings look was somewhat common with homosexual white men. Also there was a playground belief of sorts among guys that if your left ear was pierced you are straight, right ear was homosexual and both ears represented bisexual males. However, that is also a load of crap that you will only hear on playgrounds from 9 year olds. As far as I am concerned, its all up to you and your tastes. I wear earrings and ex-girlfriends and my current girlfriend like them. They often would pick out some with me or get me some for Christmas or my birthday-trust me they would tell you there is no way in hell that I'm homosexual. So if you want to get your ears pierced go ahead and do it. Just do it because you want to not to be cool or because someone is wanting you to or some crap like that. Do whatever you want to do.

Anyways... I think that its just a prejudice thing because Americans for the longest time have only seen girls with their ears pierced. I think both guys and girls have the right to Peirce whatever they want without being judged. However, I think that pierced ears look ugly on guys (Not gay though)

Anymore, guys wearing earrings is commonplace. The whole "guys wearing earrings is gay" died 25 years ago. Only the (all too vocal) ignorant folks say something that stupid anymore.
