The X-type is actually built on a Mondeo platform. The S is the bigger, more luxurious car, but the X is considered very good value and maintains its value quite well. If you definitely want a jaguar then:
x type::: for the average feel of luxury and control in terms of handling
s type::: maintaining that luxury and increasing the sportier feel through the handling and powertrain
personally I would go for the s type, but if it was an open choice of any brand go for the bmw 5 series, cash out on the M5 and u will be a happy man for years to come!

X-type is a piece of crap. It's based on a car, the Mondeo**, that sells in Europe for less than twenty grand.
The S is just an annoying exercise in retro styling.
Do you have to drive a Jag, or are you open to suggestions?

"S" type for sure, I think the X -version is too small and not a real Jaguar, more for beginning Jaguar owners.

the x type is not built on the mondeo platform there is a small part of the bulkhead that was used in the design.
both good cars, test drive them both to see which suits you better.

Depends on the climate where you live, if you get snow, I'd go with the x in a all wheel drive. If you dont get snow, S all the way

Both have many problems make sure you find a good Jag shop first and have them look it over.
