Seems to me that War in Iraq has been going on for about 30 years. They have had a lot of Internal problems. Back in the seventies, when I was growing up, it was about oil, but I think a war in Iraq started long before the USA wanted anything from them.

Has everyone forgot Desert Storm. Same old thing, Oil and a Bush.

The War against Iraq was planned long before 911- there were no Hijackers on those planes from Iraq, and there were no Terrorist operating out of Iraq, and none of Al Queda leadership is Iraqi - Therefore none of those reasons led to this war- Neo Cons operating within the Bush Administration and the News Media which is Neo Con owned, help lead to call for war- Saddam was a reckless man, and often used extreme measures to put down Civil unrest in his country, and I think you can see why, as we also use extreme measures to stop Civil unrest. The answer to your question lies in a Study of the PNAC.

It started over Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in the early '90s. The U.N. set conditions in Iraq and the U.S. didn't believe the conditions were ment and went back in went in for total control this time (last time it was mostly Southern Iraq and the soldiers weren't there to hold the land). Some of the conditions not ment was surface to air missles were used to shoot at U.S. aircraft, UN inspectors were not allowed free access and the U.N. oil embargo wasn't working (even one of the sons of the UN leader was in on the black market scheme). There was also talk of Iraq having weapons of WMD (the Republicans claim they found 500 shells filled with chemicals and the Democrats said no such things were found). There was also talk of Saddam working with terrorists and again the Republicans say yes and the Democrats say no. Right now Saddam is facing war crimes for a host of acts. His sons were killed in a U.S. shoot out early in the second return of U.S. forces or they would be facing simular charges.

There are graphic pictures of Kurds that were gassed by Saddam's army and several mass graves where his military killed hundreds of people that politically challenged him.

In 1979 President Jimmy Carter did not get the American hostages freed from Iran after over a year. The Muslim Fascists started the war at that time , but no one was smart enough to realize it at the time. Other attacks have occurred over the years the USS Cole bombing, WTC 1993, bombing of 241 GI's in Lebanon, 911, the nightclub in Bali, the train bombings in Spain and England and more to come if these Fascists are not defeated. Biggest problem is where we value life, they value death.

long before they were born, after world war two a union of nations(NATO)gave a strip of land to people called the israelites, this caused friction within the desert regions (they lived side by sidw before this in peace )this escalated hatred between the factions of the middle east and this almost cooled down.A peace accord between israel and egypt almost became into beingbut a radical muslim movement in saudi arabia(started by arafat)which began to hijack planes in the 70's killed the president of egypt(Anwar Sadat) and its radical notions of power and death to all who supported israel it then (the radicals shifted its purpose towards America since we backed the Israeli's)vowed to get even with any infidels who opposed their purposes and ideals.the war you see today is just an acceleration from that time and oil is there bargaining chip(mom tell em about the energy crisis during the seventies)so we are dealing with a problem we ignored from years past that we refused to solve then and this is what it has become...ps ...and no i'm not jewish
