How do I find him?

If he was in the Army, I would look into some of the veteran links (VFW, American Legion, DAV....) some of them have rosters of their chapters. If you knew when he was in, and what he did, you can search for his division (101st Airborne, Vietnam, Korea).
If he was in during the Korean War, try www.koreanwar.org I think that is the site and you can search there also.

What is his name and approximate age. Did he retire from the army or did he just do a few years?

Talk with you family father, brothers, and uncles. Someone got to know something, in any way start for phone directory....good luck
