Does anyone know how to make your router faster so you can play internet games like Counterstrike WITHOUT LAG?

Any lag you may experience is probably not caused by your router. Its more likely to be due to your connection and/or the server the game is running on. Try a speed test on your own connection. If the results are low, your best bet is to upgrade to a better connection. If the results are ok, then its probably the server. Try playing elsewhere, like on a server that is geographically closer to your location.

Well I actually work for a ISP. Sometimes it is a signal issue with your ISP. It could also be a router issue depending what router you have. Best ones Ive heard would be linksys routers. Routers do have internal firewalls so that will alway slow down your connection. The best way to test your speed connections is to bypass router and go straight to your modem or to the internet source. Also disable any sec. programs. Clear your cache and cookies, Ping out to your regular ISP website by URL and IP address. You should be running on about 50-60ms. If its over 100 its BAD.Now also another thing if you do have splitters those my going bad too if your using cable broadband. The more you split the connection"router"or "splitters" the less the speed is. There is a lot of other thing that can also slow down your speed connections depending on how many pc's you have on your network. One of the pc's might be taking up the juice from the other ones. In my opinion to get better speeds bypass router.

The router will hardly be the problem, unless you have a very slow firewall. To test this: disable the firewall for a moment.
Your provider can be the problem, or the server + routers which are near the other end. Or the length of the cables to your provider. Or wireless internet; that's slower then wired internet.
