I would recommend going to Aruba. We went there on our honeymoon and it was fantastic. We've been to several vacation spots in the Carribean, Hawai'i, Mexico and this one by far has the friendliest locals and best prices. The locals don't harrass you in the marketplaces like they do in other places and actually appreciate the tourists being there. We've been to places where the locals hate tourists even though they mostly rely on them for their income. Despite all the bad press Aruba has gotten in the last couple of years, it is still the "Happiest Place on Earth". Due to the bad press, their prices have dropped quite a bit. Some places were even 40% cheaper then when we went a few years ago.

The weather there is beautiful. It is always sunny and rarely ever rains. The island is mostly a desert and only the hotel areas have green grass. It is outside of the hurrican belt so that is not a concern like with most of the Carribean is during the summer months. They haven't had a hurricane there in over 50 years. There is only about 20 inches of rain there a year so you're plans never get ruined. The biggest concern there is the trade winds which blow at about 25-40mph.

The beaches are absolutely beautiful. There are white sand beaches near the hotels and on the other side of the island they have black sand beaches. Recommend taking a jeep tour through the desert area in order to get to the black sand beaches.

As with any island nation there is tons of watersports and romantic boat cruises. Lots of affordable clubs and restaurants in Oranjestad and almost every hotel has a casino. There are two main hotel areas, Palm Beach and Eagle Beach. I'd recommend Palm Beach as they have the better known chains, like Wyndam and Raddison, and have the best beach. Palm Beach is a little further away from town then Eagle Beach, but with ample taxis and buses it really isn't an issue.
