As a makeup artist I only like appying eyeliner at the top. But it depends on how you like it. But with liquid I only apply at the top, if its pencil I will apply at the top and bottom, when I apply it at the bottom i start in the middle to the corner. Use waterproof, and brushes. So here are some tips to follow.

Shape and define your eyes with eyeliner after you've applied eye shadow and before applying mascara. Whether you choose a soft line or a dramatic stroke, eyeliner draws attention.

Tips:

Choose an eyeliner appropriate for your eye color. Brown, navy and charcoal accent light eyes well, while brown and plum shades flatter brown eyes. Make sure your liner complements the color of your shadow.

Consider the type of look you're after. Pencil eyeliner gives your eyes soft definition, while liquid versions offer precision and drama. You can also moisten dark eye shadow and apply it with a small, flat brush.

Prepare a cake liner or a dark eye shadow by applying a small amount of water to your brush. Or, if you're using a pencil eyeliner, ensure that you've sharpened the pencil adequately.

Move the wet brush gently through your cake liner or dark shadow. Hold the brush or pencil as you would hold a pen.

Tilt your head back slightly and bring your eyes to a half-open state. This creates a good angle for application, while allowing you to see what you're doing.

Draw a line across the upper lid just above the lashes, from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. If you're using liquid liner, allow it to dry before opening your eyes all the way, or the color may transfer into the crease of your eye.

If you used a brush or a pencil, soften the look by gently smudging the line with your brush, a cotton swab or your finger.

Hope that helps.

First don't put eyeliner on the inner rims of your eye. This is because of a couple of reasons: (1) it can cause infections (2) makes your eyes look smaller and more squinty (3) it is wetter there so the eye liner runs and smudges, and while applying the pencil/brush can slip easier on the wetness....

So with that said follow this:

Eyelid:
with one hand stretch one of your eyes outward toward your ear. Apply the liner as close your eye lashes as possible (pencil would be better at first because the liquid won't drip in your eye and it is generally easier to control). Also applying it just to the outer half of the eye makes the eye look bigger. Repeat on other eye.
*Note: if you don't get it very close to the lash thats fine, mascara often covers that up...but you can also take your clean finger or a cottan swab (q-tip) and smudge it toward the lashes and out for a smokey eye effect. Apply more liner if needed after that.

Bottom eye:
Look up toward the ceiling (but still be able to look in the mirror) and put the eye liner on the skin below the lashes (not the rims as stated before). you can also do smokey effect on the lower eye, but be careful because it can be a little much and you may end up looking like you have a black eye (eeek!!!)
For the most part, less is more, especially on the eyes.

Hope this helps!!

You have to breathe slowly and evenly, so your hands don't shake. Use liquid when applying to your upper eyelid, and pencil on your lower eyelid. With the pencil, start on the outer corner of your eye and just draw a line about 3/4 of the way to the inner corner of your eye. On your upper eyelid, take the liquid brush, and wipe off excess, then start almost at the inner corner of your eye (above lashes, but close to them) and draw a line that slowly gets thicker, towards your outer corner. If you mess up, you can get a qtip damp and wipe off the mistakes to smoothen it out.

Liquid is a bit trickier then pencil. But I use both.

Getting a straight line is hard to do. What I do is take my liquid liner and dot it on on my bottom lash line, then I blend it in with my pencil.

Its easy once you get the hang of it. I'd recomend practicing one day right before you take a shower. That way if you get smudgy it will wash off in the shower.

ok, well i haven't messed w/ actual liquid EYELiNER (i've used it for a blended eyeshadow for smokey eyes tho), but i can help u w/ the pencil. first, pull down ur lower lid. if u begin to blink, still hold down ur lower lid, but DON'T START TO APPLY THE EYELINER CUZ THEN U WILL POKE UR EYE OUT. once u have ur eye steady (also, as another tip, on average, ur eye blinks involuntarily every 4 seconds, so plan on NOT applying the eyeliner for too long at one time), then begin to draw ur line along the pinkish-white line in between the undereye & the inner eye & follow it...then, if ur applying eyeliner to your top lid (which is easier, but only do this if ur trying to make ur eyes look smaller), then close ur eye all the way BUT RELAX UR EYE...NO SCRUNCHING!!! then swipe the eyeliner on RIGHT NEXT TO UR LASHES...it's the only way it EVER looks good. message me if u have anymore questions!! =)

First get a 5x lighted mirror. Sit in chair prop elbow on table, keep it tight like. Close one eye, kinda of start dotting in place, as you go along smear the dots together. Use Q tip or find the smudgey eyeliners that have that slanted tip on it.

One to avoid is wet-n-wild. They like hard has colored pencils to use on drawings.

Liquid eyeline takes a very steady hand.

Get your eyeliner tattoo'd on. I'm serious. It hurts like heck but you only have to do it once and you never have to worry about it again. If you must use regular liner, try this.... let your pencil actually touch your eye and you will find it doesn't really hurt. I think the worry of touching your eye is freaking you out.

First of all, I would use pencil instead of liquid. It looks better and stays on better, and if it smudges, instead of looking weird, it gives you a sexy smoky eye look. Just be calm. If you want, practice with cap on so you don't have to worry about messing up. Just try your best, and when you think you have the knack of it, you can try with the pencil. So you don't blink as much, open your mouth. Believe it or not, you don't blink as much with your mouth open. Good luck!

Pencil:
1. pull eyelid taut for flat surface to draw on
2. draw thin line right above lashline, leave no space in between
3. draw a STRAIGHT line (practice!) dont curve your line up at the end, it will be automatically curved when you let go of your eyelid
4. add thickness/length to line as needed
5. smudge for naturaller look/hide imperfections in your line

Liquid:
1. half-close one eye
2. draw thin line right above lashes, leave no space in between
3. keep drawing til you get 1/2 centimeter past the corner of your eye
4. keep eye closed for 35 seconds to give the liner time to dry, if you open too quickly it will smear all over your eyelids/crease.
